Eleanor Petry is a New York–based photographer and director with over 15 years of experience crafting emotionally resonant visuals across music, fashion, editorial, and documentary work. Known for her cinematic eye and intuitive approach to portraiture, she has directed and produced music videos and photography campaigns around the world—from Tokyo and Berlin to Los Angeles and London.
Eleanor’s work has been featured in major publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, and FADER, and her client list includes Campari, Our Place, Doc Martens, Sub Pop, Matador Records, and Girlfriend Collective. She moves fluidly between digital and analog formats and often takes on multiple roles across a project—from lighting design and editing to styling and production coordination.Deeply grounded in human connection, Eleanor’s images often explore themes of intimacy, memory, and solitude. Her early experience as one of eight siblings gave her a natural ability to disarm and connect with her subjects, and her artistic perspective was further shaped by a traumatic brain injury in 2014, which heightened her awareness of vulnerability, time, and presence.
Eleanor continues to develop independent series alongside her commercial work, including People of Ridgewood, a photo and interview project that spotlights her Queens neighborhood. She is proficient in Spanish and always open to creative collaborations that value authenticity and emotional depth.
